Should I repair my system or replace it?
Repair usually wins if it’s under about ten years old, the failed part is a capacitor, contactor, fan motor or thermostat, and it’s the first real failure. Replacement usually wins if the compressor has gone, it still runs R-22, repairs have become annual, or the quote is approaching half the cost of a new system. We’ll tell you which one you’re in — including when it’s the cheaper answer.
